Wyoming Super Tag Raffle Offers Win-Win For Hunters And Wildlife
Hunters aren’t the only winners in the Wyoming Super Tag raffle; wildlife wins big, too. Last year, a record $820,130 was generated through the sale of Super Tag tickets, with over $2.75 million generated since 2013 when Governor Matt Mead and the Wyoming Legislature created the Wyoming Game and Fish Department raffle. These funds help ensure quality outdoor recreational opportunities and help conserve wildlife.
“The Super Tag hunting license raffle offers hunters a win-win by providing a chance at their dream hunt, while raising funds to conserve an important Wyoming resource - the wildlife,” said Glenn Pauley, Game and Fish planning coordinator.
The Super Tag raffle includes ten license drawings, one drawing for bighorn sheep, moose, elk, mountain goat, wild bison, deer, antelope, mountain lion, grey wolf, and black bear. The Super Tag Trifecta is one drawing and the winner chooses any three licenses from those offered.
Raffle winners are able to hunt any open area for the species selected except for moose (areas with 10 or fewer licenses are restricted) and bighorn sheep (areas with 8 or fewer licenses are restricted). Winners also retain all preference points they have accumulated. Mandatory waiting periods for sheep and moose licenses and the once-in-a-lifetime restrictions for bull bison and mountain goat licenses are waived.
For the second year in a row, the Super Tag includes the Ultimate Hunting Gear Raffle. For every five Super Tag raffle tickets purchased of any species or combination of species, or every two Super Tag Trifecta tickets purchased, the hunter’s name is entered into a raffle to win a complete hunting gear package.
The package includes top-of-the-line gear from KUIU Ultra Light Hunting Gear, Mathews Archery, Maven, Swarovski Optik, and Weatherby. One winner will receive a full clothing package from KUIU that also includes their Mountain Star two-person tent, 15 degree sleeping bag, and ICON Pro 5200 backpack; a fully outfitted Mathews TRIAX bow customized to the winner’s preference; Maven B.2 11x45 binoculars and RS.1 3.5-15x44 rifle scope; Swarovski HD ATX 85 spotting scope, and a Weatherby Vanguard Wilderness rifle in 300 Wby. mag. The more tickets purchased the more chances to win. View the Ultimate Hunting Gear Package. Full clothing packages are also available from KUIU for the Super Tag Trifecta, bighorn sheep, elk, moose, and mountain goat winners. View KUIU Gear Package.
“Mathews is stoked to be a part of the Wyoming Super Tag raffle. Not only does it raise money to ensure the future of hunting in the state of Wyoming, it gives ordinary hunters the opportunity to experience an adventure unlike any other. We’re honored to have a small hand in helping it all happen.” says Mathews Content Manager, Derek Nelson.
Your dog’s nose can be a great asset for finding birds, but you’ll have even greater success if you do a little research before you head out on opening day.
Being out in the field can pose certain risks, so it’s your responsibility to make sure your dog has the proper training and care to keep it healthy and safe.
However, not only did Batchelor win top-of-the-line gear, but he also got the opportunity to fly out to Utah for a guided mule deer hunt on private land.
